September is already here – can you even believe it?! Just the other morning I turned my heater on for the very first time this season.. With Fall approaching, I’m noticing that I’m reaching for more blankets and cozy throws. They always put me in the mood for the change of seasons. To help me say my final goodbyes to Summer, Emma and I went shopping this week to find some new autumn decor for my home. I’m so excited to share this year’s Fall Bedroom Refresh that I’ve created in my guest bedroom using some of those finds, along with some very special pieces from Serena and Lily.
No matter the time of year, I always like making my guest room feel special for those who come to visit. From these cool room ideas, to having a simplistic look, there are so many ways you can create an atmosphere throughout a room. New bedding plays an important role with making that space welcoming. Last Autumn, I went with a blush and white color scheme in the space, and while I enjoyed all.. I wanted something completely different this time around. After taking a look at Serena and Lily’s new Fall bedding I decided to go with a neutral palette of grey, white, and cream. I’ve always loved this classic neutral color scheme (you’ll also find traces of it in my family room) and couldn’t wait to introduce more of it to my guest bedroom.
Serena and Lily’s Cavallo Linen Duvet Cover in the color, “Heathered Fog” was the first piece of bedding that I fell in love with. I knew the solid grey linen would play the perfect backdrop for the all white Maya Coverlet that I also wanted to use. The soft fringe on the coverlet added just the right amount of femininity to the otherwise masculine grey duvet. I loved the white fringe design so much that I also decided to choose 2 of the Maya Euro Shams to anchor the pillows with 2 of the Cavallo Linen Standard Shams in the fog to lay directly in front. I always love a properly layered bed that’s not only soft & comfy but beautiful.. I know my guests will appreciate the textures and color mixes.
To pull the whites and greys together even more I chose the Savoy Embroidered Sheet Set in the “Fog” thread detail. The chainlink design is my favorite. It’s classic and elegant.. and it compliments all home decor styles. The chainlink pattern comes in 10 different thread options, including blush! (Love that)
When I think of Fall and cooler weather.. plaid instantly comes to mind. I was thrilled to see that Serena and Lily offered a beautiful neutral plaid with my chosen colors in both a throw and pillow. The Silverlake Plaid Pillow Cover and the Silverlake Alpaca Throw in the color “Sand” are handloomed with alpaca and wool from Peru.. The perfect touch for my guests (and Maggie as you can see..). I have always wanted to visit Peru so to have some of my new bedding made there inspires me tremendously.
One important last piece that I added to the bed is the Addie Stripe Tassel Pillow Cover in white/ivory. The lumbar shaped pillow pulls the whites & creams from the room together in the most subtle of ways. I love the clean striped design as well as the tassels. The Addie pillow also comes in a few colors + sizes for those interested.
Sitting next to the bed is a vessel full of Fall faux hydrangea from Pottery Barn in my favorite Fall combination. The salmon, coral, maize, and blush tones look incredible with all the colors in my house – including the new neutral bedding. As to the blush pinecone? It’s a favorite from last Fall that I picked up at Tuesday Morning. It’s a classic that I’m sure I’ll use for years! One last touch to my fall guest room that I love is the metal leaf garland that I draped around the paper flowers on the wall. I found it at Terrain – Anthropologie’s sister store, and immediately knew where I was going to hang it! I’m definitely planning to order another garland for either my table or mantle.. not sure where yet but I love the leaf accent. They also have a galvanized metal version of the garland that I love too.
Those of you who are familiar with my Instagram “Monday Night Giveaways” have already seen that Serena and Lily & I are giving away 2 of their beautiful pillow covers to 2 winners. I’m so excited to partner with one of my favorite companies – Serena and Lily will always have a special place in my heart!
