My Sister’s Bungalow

My sister’s Bungalow~

One of the things that I love so much about my sister and her husband is that they chose ‘community and neighborhood’
over the size of their home when deciding to buy.

They actually downsized so that they could live in a more unique and beautiful neighborhood full of families and history.

Betsy and Jon are both Pilots and because their job requires them to be gone so much of the time community and a sense of neighborly feel is extremely important to them.

LandPark, the neighborhood they ultimately chose fit exactly what they were looking for.
It’s an old neighborhood in Sacramento that is a special place

positioned right next-door to the Sacramento Zoo, the always kid friendly Fairytale Town and large downtown parks full of water fountains, bike paths and joggers.

LandPark is full of history with most of the homes being built in the 40’s and while some of the homes have been renovated or rebuilt many of them remain in their original size.
Betsy and Jon’s home being one of them.

While my sister’s  home is small in size, it has a beautiful big back yard with space for a wine bar, pool and pool house, outdoor shower and even a vegetable garden.
It’s the perfect bungalow for entertaining and because they’ve chosen to live in this special neighborhood where everyone drops by unexpectedly… entertaining others is something they often have the chance to do!

Their neighborhood reminds me of a Norman Rockwell painting.
People are out and about walking their dogs, unloading groceries from their cars while waving hello and you can’t miss the hoards of kids and adults constantly riding past on bikes.

I love the feel of her town and the incredible people she calls her neighbors!

I hope you enjoy this little tour of my sister’s charming old bungalow as much as I do.  It definitely makes me appreciate small homes that much more… :)

Hugs! xo

*I’m getting my sister this art work for her wall with a quote all about small houses made by my dear friend, Aedriel ~

    1. Hi Andrea! I should have taken a few of her kitchen but I know it’s a space she’d really like to redo so I’ll just wait for the ‘ok’ first… :) Thanks so much for your sweet comment. She has a great sense of style and everything is beautiful yet comfy. Hugs and thanks again! xoxo

  1. Everything looks so beautiful and you can so tell she is your sister by the similar deco as you. Very fresh and pretty. @FITNESSNLIFESTYLE

    1. Thanks Aline! WE do tend to decorate similarly and I adore her style and fresh twist. We also work well together and play off one another perfectly… If she lived closer I’d want to go into business with her! ;) We’d have a blast I’m sure. Happy Tuesday and thanks so much! xo

  2. Love both homes. Thank you for sharing, it always helps inspire me:) The blue accents outside are amazing with nature’s greenery:)

    1. Thanks Sherry! I really love the royal blue against all the green as well. So nautical or just ‘summer like’. Have a great Tuesday and thank you again! xo

    1. Super cute right Paula??? Miss you and Sammy! Give that little guy a hug from me and tons of kisses from his buddy, Cal! ;) xoxo

    1. Thanks Karen! It is what it is as Betsy would say but she really does love her itty bitty bungalow. ;) They remind me that it’s so much more important to just enjoy what you have and to spend that extra time with those you love rather than cleaning a larger house and being overextended! Hugs and thanks so much fro the comments! xo

    1. Thanks Terrie! I’ll make sure she hears your sweet comment! Happy Tuesday and thanks so much for taking time to read. :) xoxo

  3. Well…obviously the great decorator gene runs in your family!! :) Your sister’s home is beautiful!!! Love all the colors she chose and the artwork you’re getting her is perfect! I love it all…her pillows, paint colors, furniture, etc.! Her porch and outdoor areas are gorgeous as well. Love the little orange kitty too! :) Thanks for sharing the pics!

    1. Thanks Lisa! I love her cozy beautiful bungalow and I’m thrilled she didn’t mind when I arrived and started taking pics. ;) Her sweet cat, Fred reminds me of Cal in that he is ‘almost’ ;) as sweet but boy I’ll tell you… he doesn’t like sleepy Cal hanging out that’s for sure. He meows the entire time and is miserable that Cal is happily snoozing away in HIS home! ;) Lol. Poor Fred. Have a great day and thanks again! Hugs! xoxo

  4. This house represents the low-key personality of the homeowner based on the “relaxed feel” vibe. The yard is teeming with greens and blues … very California ! I very well understood that you and your sib loves the nautical feel and they are just well played in all the spaces of both yours and hers .. You’re absolutely right, if you teamed up a home décor business together, I will sign up as your client ! Well done.

    1. Wow that’s so sweet Karen! I’ll make sure to tell Betsy… :) Not sure we’d be as profitable as her Pilot position but maybe I can coax her! ;) Hugs to you! xoxo
