I thought I was organized in my kitchen… Wow was I wrong. This past monthΒ The Container Store reached out and asked if I would be interested in working on a kitchen organizing makeover. I jumped at the chance. All one had to do was open any cabinet door in my kitchen to realize I needed help. From my little pantry to my drawers.. my kitchen was a mess.

A little background… We moved into our newly renovated home last year and I don’t think I ever fully organized my kitchen the way I had originally planned. I had so much on my mind with the move that I never got around to it. I was so busy trying to get everything else sorted and finalized, my cabinets and pantry simply fell to the wayside.. I had so many other spaces that were more visible that I prioritized… as a result, the kitchen cabinets and drawers took a backseat to everything. I’m thrilled to announce… no longer! Once The Container Store’s home designer came over and whipped up her organizing magic, everything began to fall into place. I can now finally say.. I have a kitchen that I am proud of.
You may remember that just prior to The Container Store coming to help me, Emma and I had tackled our refrigerator ourselves using The Container Store’s clear bins to help organize my wide fridge shelves. To see more of that post click here. It was incredible what they did to transform how we use our refrigerator now. Suffice it to say, we are thrilled with the results. Everything is not only organized but so much more efficient and beautiful!
Before Pictures of my little pantry and several of my kitchen drawers –
The day I opened the doors on my little lower pantry to share on Instagram… items fell out. ( I died..) It’s small size was stuffed full and I knew it needed an entire new approach to organize the space. We couldn’t find a thing.
Poor Jeff… This drawer is where he houses his cooking pans. Because it’s also situated under the coffee maker you may notice I threw in a ton of coffee related items as well.
Who could find anything in this mess?
This is the junk drawer that I had recently organized myself. While I loved it, I really appreciated what Margit did to pull it together even more.
My Kitchen the dayΒ The Container Store’sΒ home designer, Margit arrived –
Bags and bags of items to help us organize…
I have never been so happy to see someone as I was The Container Store home organizer, Margit. A little about how the insider organizing experience works. Margit called and scheduled a meeting to come look at the space I wanted to change. She took measurements and asked me a ton of questions. How do we approach our kitchen when cooking, what do we use the most… Do we use everything often? Or not at all? Through Margit’s questions we learned what we needed to keep in order to help organize our space properly and what we needed to get rid of.
Install Day
The day Margit arrived for install we emptied everything out of our pantry, drawers and cabinets… Then Margit began her magic. I had no idea how many different tools there are to help separate, raise and divide items in cabinets and pantries. Margit brought a ton of amazing products. I’m proud to say that we used ALL.
I love the White Wire Baskets with Wooden Handles. Perfect for keeping things neat and tidy… It’s nice to be able to see what you are looking for. The baskets are large enough to fill and easy to pull out of my lower cabinets using the handles. So pretty too!
Dying at how cute this pantry looks now… We don’t keep a ton of dried goods as we try to eat as much fresh produce as possible.
The Three Tier Acrylic Cabinet Organizer helped raise all my canned items perfectly. Now everything is visible. Why didn’t I think of this before?
My pantry in a nutshell… I love how it turned out.
Margit added Bamboo Turntables (Lazy Susan’s) to Jeff’s most used cabinet next to the range. This is where he houses all of his olive oils, vinegars and other cooking ingredients. He loves how easy it is to find everything now.
The Square Bamboo Storage Basket that houses the sugar and other dried items looks great here as well. Easy to pull out and it houses everything perfectly.
The Bamboo Drawer Dividers are a welcome addition to helping keep my bowls, plates and baking dishes organized.
The Bamboo Stackable Drawer Organizers helped transform my drawers also. I seriously can’t believe the difference. To help the bamboo organizers stay in place, Margit added rubber sticky dots to the bottom of the dividers. LOVE!
My spice drawer came with the organizing levels already intact but Margit grouped everything together beautifully.
Margit also reorganized other drawers… This is the messy drawer that held a couple of Jeff’s cooking pans. I used to also have coffee items mixed in with Jeff’s pots. Why?! Now everything has it’s own place. (Jeff is thrilled)We are big coffee/tea drinkers in this house. Many of you are probably familiar with the coffee maker that we use daily. We love our machine and share it constantly in stories. Having a tea/coffee drawer was something I have always wanted but didn’t think we had the room for… that is until Margit made it possible!
When Jeff saw his utensil drawers I thought he was going to cry… ;) (I felt the same way and I don’t even use the drawer..)
Even my silverware has a perfectly sized adjustable Bamboo organizer. Everything looks perfect.
I have to admit… Opening my kitchen to everyone hasn’t been easy. I really believe myself to be an organized person for the most part and looking at my kitchen from another point of view has been eye opening to say the least. I have learned so much about the process of organizing through my home expert, Margit. Having someone come in to my home to help give me tips and advice has been life changing. I told Jeff that I’m so happy with how the kitchen looks right now I may even begin to cook with him. ;)

Hello,
I was watching your Insta Gram and decided to go back into your Blog. I really like the silver mirror better than the gold. I was debating between the two, and I know the gold is sold out, but when I saw your mirror displayed I really like it in the silver; so much better. It goes with the extension of the metal colors of your kitchen. The kitchen and family room are just beautiful. Thank you for the information, and I am definitely going to look into the Container Store for help with the containers and organizing. In the long run they know their products and can help with measurements better. Thank you for all the information.
Hi! Iβm a little late with my comment but just wanted to say how beautiful your kitchen is. Iβm going out tomorrow to pick up some baskets for my pantry. You and Emma are such a wonderful inspiration and of course I canβt forget to mention Jeff. Hugs from Toronto. β€οΈ
Hi Kristy…Just getting caught up on my blog reading this weekend and found my requested pantry organization post!! Awesome, thanks! I’ve been a super-fan of the Container Store since I was a college student, 30 years ago! Great job…as the cook in my home, I know Jeff will appreciate all that efficiency. :)
Where are your pink mixing bowls from?
Thank you for always sharing your beautiful home with us! I had a quick question about the spice draw. I know you mentioned that it came with the dividers but do you know if container store have those spice dividers?
Excellent!! I tackled my refrigerator today. I need another trip to container store but for me the turntables seem to be a godson so I might go back and get more of those in the see-through containers. I have a subzero so it is big.. need to look again at how you did lettuces etc. Pantry is another day!! π₯±Thanks! Nothing like social distancing To make you pay attention to your home
