Bringing Touches of Fall to my Table

Hi everyone!

I love this time of year with the cooler temperatures and shorter days. It’s a time when families watch movies together and dine together. It is the perfect backdrop for candlelight and warm fires.

Year round my approach toward entertaining is usually pretty simple, I love keeping things elegant but without all the fuss. During the fall and winter months however, I find myself jumping into the ‘decorating mode’. With every new catalog that arrives, I find new inspiration and ideas for dressing up the house.

As most of you know, we just moved in to our newly renovated home last January. This will be my first fall and winter here, and I’m looking forward to decorating for the seasons. My house isn’t completely finished, but that doesn’t matter, while I wait for furniture pieces, I am finding touches of fall and adding them wherever I can.

I usually begin decorating around October 1st when the weather begins to cool a bit and pumpkins arrive at every store. This year, I was inspired by so many amazing bloggers and Instagrammers. I featured several of their tablescapes in a recent blog post.. to see more of that post click here.

My inspiration for this year’s fall tablescape comes from all of the beautiful metallic features that I will be introducing into my home. For the first time in a long time, I will be showcasing some gold and brass through the new sofa that I have on order, and a few other pieces (floor lamp and my gallery wall).

My home is filled with polished nickel, and I love the idea of mixing metals. The colors that I’m featuring, also inspired me to fall in love with a new metal I have never used before in my home, rose gold.

This year throughout my home and specifically on my dining table you will find touches of blush, mixed greens, and creamy whites.
The table currentlyΒ  reflects a more simpler style with eucalyptus leaves, fresh pumpkins, and touches of rose gold. Later in the season I’ll dress it up even more.

I decided to use a large princess pumpkin from Trader Joe’s as my centerpiece. Yes, it’s real and it’s not perfect which I love. I like grounding my table with something large that attracts the eye and go from there, whether it be a floral arrangement, a large fresh pumpkin, or a clear glass bowl with seashells like I had throughout the summer months…

By using a large white pumpkin as my main focal point, I knew a bit more color would be needed down the center of the table. Instead of using a runner, I decided to place fresh Eucalyptus branches underneath the pumpkin and candlesticks.Β You can find them at Trader Joe’s for next to nothing. I love using real fall foliage whenever possible because they always smell good and provide a texture that is hard to recreate. They don’t last nearly as long however but that’s the trade off with using real. I have faux Eucalyptus branches for those days I don’t have time to restock the fresh.

To mix with my fresh elements, I decided on featuring some rose gold elements through my candlesticks and votive holders. There is nothing like flickering candlelight to make a table look sparkly and beautiful at night.

As to the place-setting, many of you have asked me where I purchased my chargers. The octagonal pewter chargers are several years old. For a similar look, click here. The white Kate Spade china is no longer available, but you can find a look almost exactly the same, here. I love this pattern because it goes with everything, yet it still looks elegant with the silver trim.

The dessert/salad plateΒ on top provides the perfect color that compliments the blush marbledΒ napkins I found as well. I love the blush and rose gold tones combined. The napkin ring holders are the least expensive find from Tuesday Morning. They were around $2 for a set of 3!

With my glassware, I pulled out my favorite Hammered Silver Tumblers. These are a favorite of mine for nostalgic reasons. I purchased them in Napa on a weekend getaway with Jeff. One of our favorite restaurants, Bottega, places them at each table setting. I found others online that are almost identical. Love these for both casual and dressy dining! You can use for them for water or wine and they are dishwasher safe.

The wine glasses pair beautifully with my china as both have silver rims.Β  I love these glasses and the tiny elegant detail.

To add a little more something, I tore off pieces of a rose gold glitter garland and tucked them in between my eucalyptus branches. I also added a little stem of the garland in each of the tumblersΒ with a white baby pumpkin sitting on the top. It’s both whimsical and elegant. The best of both worlds!

Knowing me, I’m sure I’ll be taking away and adding lots in the next couple months. We’ll be hosting numerous dinner parties and family will be visiting. I love mixing my looks and switching things up whenever I can…

Have you begun to decorate for autumn? Do you set a formal table? You’ll have to let me know! I’m always looking for different ideas and opinions.

You can check out an older fall tour of mine in my last home here.

xo,
Kristy

  1. Your table looks really beautiful Kristy! Very classy and elegant. The rose gold is such a pretty addition and goes beautifully with your blush pink napkins. My favorite time of the year to host family and friends and also enjoy setting a beautiful table. My mom set such gorgeous tables and I’ve tried to follow in her footsteps. :) Have a wonderful day Kristy!

  2. Love the rose gold with the natural elements! One of my favorite tablescapes so far! Definitely gonna copy it!❀️

  3. Hi Kristy! I’m not sure if I missed it, but I didn’t get to read about Part 3 of how you & Jeff got together. You seem like a lovely couple still very much in love. I, too, am equally blessed to be married to the love of my life for 32+ years, AND he also lets me decorate the house to my hearts continent! ? So, is there a Part 3? Thanks & ❀️ Bernie
